What zone (upper, middle, lower) does most of your handwriting fall in??
Zonal movement in handwriting occurs vertically, reflecting the self's dimension and serving as the foundational pillar of character. It underpins the horizontal and peripheral aspects of personality, akin to a backbone or tree trunk. The balance among three zones—intellectual and spiritual, social self, and instinctual drives—shapes ego development.
Zonal symmetry gauges inner equilibrium and maturity. Symbolically, the three zones correlate with time, space, body divisions, and levels of consciousness, as outlined by Sigmund Freud. In time, the upper zone signifies the future, the middle zone the present, and the lower zone the past. Spatially, this mirrors a well-balanced tree's growth, indicative of resilience in the face of challenges.
Personality formation involves interactions among the three zones. The upper zone's rules of conduct grapple with instinctual energies stored in the lower zone, while the middle zone embodies the goal-oriented, socially conscious self. The baseline reflects the success of balancing these zones, where the ego negotiates between intellectual, moral considerations, and innate physical drives.
Handwriting mirrors the entire person, and there's no inherently "good" or "bad" zone. Rhythmic balance is crucial for personal maturity, as the baseline reveals how well the ego manages conflicting forces to achieve social and practical goals.
I'll have a future post on showing balanced/imbalanced personalities as seen in zonal balance/imbalance.
